Full Mouth Debridement
A Full Mouth Debridement is phase one of our Daytona dentist cleaning procedure. This is done when excessive calculus, also known as tartar, builds up on the teeth. At this appointment the hygienist will remove most of the tartar and calculus from the teeth. This allows the gum tissue to begin to heal and the inflammation to go down. At this visit your healthcare provider will irrigate with peroxide to help with gum inflammation. The hygienist will also design a home care routine to help keep your teeth healthy.
After 3-4 weeks of healing time, you will be seen for a second cleaning. The tissues will be much less tender and have shrunk down enough so that any remaining tartar will be visible and can be removed. This is known as a fine scale and polish.
